Panther 8th Grade Football Team Defeats Anna 30-0
Story by T. Kirk Stephenson

The Parkway 8th grade football team picked up their second win of the season on Sept. 11 by defeating the Anna Rockets 30-0.  In the first quarter, the offense set the stage for the night, as they moved the ball steadily down the field and scored their first touchdown on a 5 yd run by Sam Dellinger, which put the Panthers up 6-0.  Both teams battled into the second quarter when the Panthers struck again.  Dellinger took the hand off, broke a couple of tackles and was off to the races for a 28 yd score.  Cody Schmitz would punch in the extra point to put the Panthers up 14-0 going into half time.

The Panthers started the second half of the game the same way they did the start of the game.  In the third quarter, Jordan Strader connected with Cain Ponstler on a 20 yd pass to get the ball on the Rocket’s 36 yard line.  On the very next play Strader and Ponstler connected once again this time resulting in the Panther’s third touchdown on the night.  Jordan Stephenson caught the extra point pass from Stader, which put the Panthers up 22-0.   In the 4th quarter, the Panther offense would put their final points on the board, when fullback Brandon Moorman took the handoff and pounded thru the line for a 3 yd touchdown.  Cameron Roehm would cap off the drive by connecting w/ Strader on the extra point to make the final score 30-0.

On the night, the Panther’s offense had several key contributors:  Sam Dellinger lead the rushing attack with 70 yds and 2 TD’s.   Cody Schmitz …54 yds, Jordan Strader…35 yds, Brandon Moorman….15 yds and 1 TD, and Jerrit Oneill….8 yds.  Cain Ponstler added two catches for

for a total of 56 yds and 1 TD.  Defensively the team was lead by Keith Roman (4 tackles), Cain Ponstler (4 tackles, interception, fumble), and Brandon Moorman (3 tackles and 2 fumbles).

The 8th grade team will be on the road this Thursday (9/18) as they travel south to take on the Fort Recovery Indians.  Good Luck Panthers !!!!

Panther 8th Grade Football Team Defeats Marion Local 12-0
Story by T. Kirk Stephenson

The Parkway 8th grade football team picked up their first win of the season on Sept. 4 by defeating the Marion Local Flyers.  The two teams battled back-n-forth the first half with the score still knotted at 0-0 at halftime.  At the start of the second half, the Flyers seemed to be in control of the game moving the football steadily down the field against the Panther defense.  With short yardage to go on a second down play, the Flyers fumbled the football which was quickly scooped up by linebacker Keith Roman who scrambled down the field 59 yards before being brought down deep in the Flyer territory.  Two plays later, running back Sam Dellinger broke through a couple of tackles and was on his way to a 26 yard touchdown and Parkway’s first score of the game to make it 6-0.

The battle continued into the 4th quarter and the Panther’s defense stopped it once again and caused the Flyer offense to cough up the football one more time, which was recovered by linesman Tyler Matthews.  A few snaps later and running back Sam Dellinger was off to the races again.  This time for a 58 yard touchdown score that put the Panthers up 12-0 and sealed the game.  On the night the defense was lead by Keith Roman, Jordan Strader, Brandon Moorman, and Brandon Leonard who all recorded 4 tackles each.  Roman and Matthew’s also recorded one fumble each for the defense.  On the offensive side of the ball, Sam Dellinger lead the attack with 2 TD’s and 90 plus yards of rushing.  Also contributing to the offense was Jack Roth with 17 yards of receiving.  The 8th grade team will be on the road this Thursday (9/11) as they travel south to take on the Anna Rockets.  Good Luck Panthers !!!!
