Re:  Criminal Hearings

 

Jeremy R. Workman, 27, Van Wert, Ohio was sentenced to three years of community control on a charge of Possession of Drugs a felony of the fifth degree.

 

Workman had originally been arrested by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department after a traffic in April of 2007 at which time he was found to be in possession of Oxycodone and Methadone.

 

While on community control Workman will be required to spend 30 days in the Van Wert Count Jail at a time to be determined by his supervision officer, perform 200 hours of community service which can be reduced to 100 hours if gainfully employed, have a substance abuse assessment and complete any programs recommended, pay all court costs and make $250 partial reimbursement for his court appointed attorney.   Judge Steele also sentenced him to a basic prison term of eight months with the imposition of that sentence deferred pending the successful completion of the community control program.

 

It was noted during the hearing that during the period of time he was out on bond that the Adult Probation Department and his attorney had felt he had made great strides in turning his life around. 

 

 

Glenn Feathers, 45, Delphos, Ohio was sentenced to one year of community control on two counts of Assault both counts were misdemeanors of the first degree.  Feather originally had been indicted on a count of Felonious Assault and Assault by the December 2007 session of the Van Wert County Grand Jury.

Feathers allegedly participated in the assault of a girl friend’s young daughter and another young female that was in the home at the time, according to a Delphos Police Department investigation.   The alleged assault incident took place on November 12th, 2007 at a Delphos home.

 

Feathers was given a 30 days jail sentence to be served immediately and upon release will be on electronically monitored house arrest for an additional 60 days. He also was given a 180 day jail sentence on each count with the imposition of that sentence deferred pending the successful completion of the community control program.   Feather was ordered not to have any contact with either victim involved in the case.

 

 

Bradley J. Hollar, 37, 9000 US Highway 192 West 495, Clermont, Florida entered a guilty plea to three counts of Theft, all three counts were felonies of the fifth degree

 

Hollar along with another  person were responsible for three separate incidents where they stole large screen televisions from the Super WalMart Center in January and March of 2008.   The value of the televisions stolen was set at $6,887.00 with this amount of restitution requested by the Prosecutor’s Office.

 

Judge Steele ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for June 25th, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.  

 

 

Terry Short, Lima, Ohio was found to be in violation of his diversion program which he was placed on in June of 2007 for a charge of Non-Support of Dependents.  Short had been ordered to make monthly child support payments and had failed to make any payments since November of 2007. 

 

Judge Steele ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for June 25th, 2008 at 9:00 a.m..

William Contrell, 31, Grover Hill, Ohio  entered a guilty plea to a charge of Non-Support of Dependents and was placed in the diversion program.  As part of the diversion program monthly payments must be made to the Child Support Enforcement Agency, failure to comply with the regulations of the diversion program can result in a prison sentenced.
