How Do I Print a Copy of That? ~ Another Suggestion
by Robert Thompson

Highlight (with the mouse left-clicker) just the portion you want to print.  Here is how to do it:

1. Using the mouse and the left-clicker, make a single click at the beginning of the story and hold the clicker down.

2. Continuing to hold it down, drag it to the right and pull down through the printed word to “highlight” the entire printed area you want to print-out.

3. Then release the left clicker. The area should remain in a “highlighted” state.

4. If it does not, go back to number 1 and try again (It may take some practice – don’t get discouraged).

5. If it does remain highlighted, then simply make a right mouse click in the highlighted area. A pop-up window will open.

                        6. Click PRINT in the pop-up window that appears

                      7. Click SELECTION in the printing pop-up window

                      8. Click PRINT in the same window

                       9. Admire your printed results.

Bob also had some additional tips and said:

An advantage to this method is that the source is referenced at the bottom of the page (http://www.parkwayindependent.com) along with the date the item was printed.

Becky’s method is useful for someone who wants to save permanently a copy of the information for future reference or for someone who may wish to edit the information.

An alternate way of selecting the text that usually works and is especially handy if the text covers more than one computer screen is

left click once at the beginning of the text

scroll to the end of what you are selecting

then hold down the SHIFT key while left clicking once.

Everything between the first and the last click should be highlighted.

Thanks to Robert Thompson for helping out with an alternative print method!

How Do I Print a Copy of That?

Do you sometimes see stories on the Parkway Independent that you would like to print-out?  If you just press the print button, you will wind up printing the entire Newspage! Uh-oh.

You need to highlight (with the mouse left-clicker) just the portion you want to print.

6. Using the left clicker to click Copy in the  pop-up window that appears.

7. Now, click on the Start menu at the bottom of the desktop and click on All Programs which will display many programs on your computer.  Here, you will need to move the mouse to the right and then up or down  and select a word processing program like Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Works, or even Notepad under the Accessory menu.  Click on the one you want.

8. When you open one of these programs, a new blank document appears.

Right click the mouse in the blank document, and then click on Paste in the drop-down menu that appears.  Now your article will appear and you can print it out without printing unwanted pages.

Thank you to Becky Stephenson for suggesting a crash-course in printing.
