HAWK
Armetha Hawk, 94, Mendon, OH died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, OH.

    
She was born March 2, 1913 in Mendon, OH to Edgar A. and Bertha L. Wilson Nolan.  On October 31, 1936 she married Walter Reid Hawk and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1995.

   
She was a beautician and a homemaker and had lived most of her life in this area.

    
Surviving is one son, Larry (Diana) Hawk, Celina and one daughter, Beverly (Jim) Blount, Rockford, OH; two sisters: Hollies (Willard) Dilbone, Mendon and June (Paul) Schott, New Breman, OH; three grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Dicus, Saint Marys, OH, Angie Blount, Fairborn, OH, and Wade (Jenny) Hawk, Celina, OH; one foster grandchild, Renee (Brent) Geary, Fairfax, VA.; and four great grandchildren, Kiel and Megan Hawk and Taylor and Paige Dicus and two foster great grand children, Ryan and Finn Geary.

    
Deceased is one brother, Delbert Nolan and two sisters, Catherine Engle and Dolly Nolan.

    
Funeral services will be held at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Glenn Masser officiating.  Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery, Rockford, OH.

    

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 from10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

COX
 
Merle Cox, 85, of rural Convoy, died at 5:48 a.m.  Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Convoy Care Center.

He was born January 18, 1922, in Tully Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Walter L. and Lena H. (McNeal) Cox.

On April 9, 1944, he married Mabel (Bauer) Cox, who survives.
 
Mr. Cox was a retired farmer. He attended First Baptist Church in Van Wert and was a 1941 graduate of Tully-Convoy High School. He had also served on the Van Wert County Fair Board for 12 years. He was a loving grandfather and greatly enjoyed wintering in Florida for over 30 years.
 
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Dennis (Suzanne) Cox, Jerry (Marty) Cox, and Terry Cox, all of Convoy; a daughter, Joy Cox of New Haven, Ind.; one sister, Pauline Custer of Convoy; an aunt, R. Merle Chambers  of New Haven; and three grandchildren, Janette (Brandon) Griffith, Jason Merle Cox and Jerod Dennis Cox.
 
A daughter, Diane Irene Cox, who died in infancy; two brothers, Harold G. Cox and Paul Richard Cox; and one sister, Helen Cox, also preceded him in death.
   
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, at First Baptist Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Steve A. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday, December 3, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
