PHILLIPS

Leonard Russell Phillips Sr., age 88, of Celina, passed away at 12:50 pm, December 2, 2018, at Mercer Health, Coldwater.  He was born January 3, 1930 to the late William and Rose (Etters) Phillips.  On May 29, 1953 he married Mary Virginia (Stoll) Phillips, and she preceded him in death on January 19, 2010. 

 

Survivors are two sons, L. Russell Jr. Phillips, Celina, and Jerome L. Phillips, Celina; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Also preceded in death by a sister, Marge Adams; six brothers, Art, Lloyd, Howard, Lamar, Harry, and Robert Phillips; and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Phillips.
 

Leonard retired from New Idea in Coldwater after 44 years of service.

 

Visitation hour will be from 2-4 pm on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Cisco Funeral Home, Celina; where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.

ADAMS
Shirley A. Adams, age 83, of rural Spencerville, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018, at her residence.

 

She was born December 15, 1934, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Homer Elsworth & Vera Mae ( Ankney ) Foreman.

 

Her first husband, John Gilbert Sigler, is deceased.  She married Robert Dean Adams on May 24, 1969, and he died May 11, 2016.

 

Shirley is survived by 4 children: Brenda Rae Sigler ( Jim ) Wise of Hillsdale, Michigan, Kim J. ( LuAnn ) Sigler of Rockford, Jodi N. Adams Veit ( Eric Winner ) of Celina and Troy Robert ( Cheryl ) Adams of Spencerville.

 

8 grandchildren: Ryan Blue, Steven Blue, Lauren Blue Keiffer, Angie Sigler Stephenson, J.R. Sigler, RJ Veit, Paige Veit and Tye Adams, and 9 great-grandchildren, also survive.  A sister-in-law, Rosemary Foreman, resides in Van Wert.

 

Preceding Shirley in death were a sister & three brothers: Eugene ( Norma ) Foreman, Homer Robert ( Leotta ) Foreman, Virginia “Ginny” ( William David ) Pollock and Byron Foreman. Also, Shirley's dog, Toby, who had been a special member of her family. 

 

A 1952 graduate of Van Wert High School, Shirley worked at Federal Mogul and Teleflex in Van Wert, and retired from Milcor in Lima in 1997.  

 

Shirley was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert, but had been attending Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, near Mendon.  She belonged to the Farm Bureau.

 

Shirley enjoyed her family and grandchildren very much.  She liked to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events.  

 

Shirley took pleasure in caring for her yard, and the farm animals.  She had a fondness for hummingbirds, enjoying her time spent feeding and watching them.  

 

Private Services will be held for the family, with burial to take place at Tomlinson Cemetery, in Union Township.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's memory are asked to be made to State of the Heart Care.
