GRIGGS
Don  Edward  Griggs , 78, Lima, formerly of Mendon, died on Friday, January 25, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born April 9, 1929 in Lima  to the John & Vergil (Wilson) Griggs who are now deceased.  On March 16,1954, He married Martha R. "Marty" (Dilbone), who proceeded him in death. 

He was a car salesman for 50 years. He had been the Owner/Operator of Griggs Garage in Mendon for 30 years and later worked for various automobile dealerships in the Lima area. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, and had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a Life Member of Spencerville VFW Post # 6772, Member of Shanes Lodge #377  F. & A.M.  of Rockford, and a 1947 Graduate of Mendon-Union High School Member of the Mendon First Church of God. 

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Karla Burtch) Griggs, Cincinnati, and Scott (Reid ) Griggs Dallas, TX; one daughter, Stacey (Mike) Parks, Lima, OH; one brother, John D. “Jake” (JoAnne) Griggs Mendon, OH; two sisters, Elaine (Wayne) Fox, Arcanum, OH and Janell (Bob) Torrey Lake Placid, FL; his companion, Deborah Core, Lima, OH, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Griggs, and two sisters, Evelyn Fent  and  Pauline Griggs, who died in infancy. 

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M.,  Tuesday,  January 29 at W.H. Dick & Sons - Hellwarth Funeral Home, Mendon. Burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery, Lamar Roebuck officiating.

Calling is at the W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Mendon on Monday, January, 28 at 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
