GREEN

Maxine Mae Green, age 95, of Celina, OH, passed away March 10, 2019 at 6:56 A.M. at Van Crest of Delphos. 
 

She was born September 7, 1923 in Carey, the daughter of the late Selmon D. and Ruth S. (O’Connor) Virden. On May 16, 1942 she married Thomas E. Green, who died December 21, 2006.
 

Surviving is her son, Thomas E. Green “Skip” Jr., Delphos, OH; her daughter Melissa B. Green, Lima, OH; daughter-in-law Janice M. Green, Celina, OH; two grandchildren Sean J. (Megan) Green and Shane R. (Kate) Green, both of Columbus; and four great grandchildren Addison, Parker, Anderson and Margaret.
 

Family members preceding Maxine in death include her son Stephen V. Green who died on January 21, 2015 and her four siblings Selma R. Hilliard: Janis M. “Tekey” Kirchner; Janet H. “Mickey” Hufford and Judson W. Virden. 
 

Maxine was a 1941 graduate of Carey High School and attended her class reunions for over 70 years. In her earlier years she worked as an office assistant for the Lake Contracting Company. She then assumed the role as office manager and an agent at Hecht Associates Insurance Agency for 30 years.

In addition, for over 24 years Maxine enjoyed serving as clerk for Jefferson Township and working the County Election Board. 

Maxine was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church where she served as a member on the WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) Board, Grace Circle, and weekly Bible Study Group.  She also was a member of the Alturian Club.  Her community service included raising funds for the local YMCA, and the “Church with the Purple doors.”
 

Visitation hours will be from 4:00-6:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 12 at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. 
 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 13 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Celina with Rev. Dr. Jeff Gramza officiating; where visitation hours will be from 9:30-10:30 A.M. prior to the service.
 

Burial will follow at Green Mound Cemetery Ft. Recovery, OH.
 

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
