George Franklin Walker, 90, of Liberty Township, died at 10:09 a.m., Tuesday at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born on November 29, 1922 in West Plains, Missouri, the son of the late David William and Georgia Gertrude (Davis) Walker. On June 20, 1943, he married the former Edith Louise Proffitt who preceded him in death on April 27, 2010. Also preceding him in death were three sisters, Ellen Lee Collins, Annabelle Hendrickson, and Rita Marie Walker; and a brother, D.L.Walker.

Family survivors included three sons: Donald W. (Carolyn) Walker of Ohio City, Ronald E. (Shirley) Walker of Van Wert, and Ron (Jean) Worline of Denver, PA; three daughters, Becky (Bradley) Scheidt of Van Wert, Debby Strickler of Ohio City, and Connie Slagle of Ohio City; sixteen grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

Mr. Walker was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and attended Olive Branch Church of God. He retired from Bordens Cheese in Van Wert in 1982.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Bevington officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Post #346 of the American Legion, Ohio City.

Preferred memorials are to Olive Branch Church of God, CHP Inpatient Hospice Center or Ohio City E.M.S.
