FIGLEY

LeDoyle “Farmer” Figley, 103, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, where he had been a patient.  He was born August 25, 1908 near Rockford, Ohio, the son of James and Goldie (Hook) Figley.  On October 22, 1930, he married Mabel Agnes Strickler, who preceded on December 11, 1996. Mr. Figley was a long-time farmer and lived his entire life, in the Rockford area.  He was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church.  For years, he trained and showed  Shetland ponies throughout the area.

 

Surviving are two sons and one daughter:  Dick (Janice) Figley of Rockford, Keith Figley, also of Rockford, and Jane Roebuck, of Cridersville, Ohio.  Seven grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren survive, also.  Deceased is a son-in-law,  Virgil Roebuck, a daughter-in-law, Sandy Figley, and  1 great grandchild, Joshua Roebuck.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on  Saturday, November 5, 2011 at  Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor  Chip Steffy officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. 

 

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Rockford United Methodist Church.

ROBBINS
John W. Robbins,  69,  of rural Celina, 
died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in the Emergency Room at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
 
He was born April 13, 1942 in Celina to the late Roy A. & Opal G. Monroe Robbins.
 
On May 7, 1977 he married Naomi Hover, and she died July 14, 2009.
 
Survivors include a son, Dwayne ( Kimberly ) Beal of Germantown, a brother, Tom ( Mary Jane ) Robbins of Celina, a sister, Mary Robbins of Vandalia, 5 Grandchildren: Joshua, Jonathan "Jon", Jonah, Jett & Jadyn Beal, a brother-in-law: Lavern ( Sue ) Hover of Lima and a sister-in-law: Glenna ( Dale ) Kriewald of Florence, AZ
 
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Beal.
 
He was a 1960 graduate of Celina High School and attended The Ohio State University for 2 years.
 
He served 4 years with the U.S. Army in Germany.
 
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Celina American Legion Post #210, Farm Bureau, and the Belgian Draft Horse Corporation of America. 
 
He was a retired Telephone Technician from Verizon and had farmed.
 
His hobbies were Blacksmithing, Polka Dancing, German History,  & Woodworking, and watching Horse Racing and Baseball.  He enjoyed raising Belgian Horses.
 
Services will begin at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 5 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, rural Rockford.
Reverend Catherine Costello will officiate.
 
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, November 4, 2011 at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina
and 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the Church.
 
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
