Maxine F. Caffee, 88, of Decatur, Indiana passed away
at Adams Woodcrest on Saturday, November 12, 2016. She was born in
Jefferson, Ohio on June 16, 1928 to the late Harold and Opal (Garwood)
Smith. On October 20, 1946, she married H. Dale Caffee. He passed away
on December 9, 2001.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, IN
and was a former member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. She was a
former choir member at both churches. She also taught Sunday School at
Zion Lutheran Church in Chattanooga, OH
Maxine was a homemaker, but also worked for Adams
County Planning & Zoning Board from 1969-1985. She did secretarial work
for Dr. Arthur Girod and was employed at H&R Block. Maxine worked and
volunteered at Adams Memorial Hospital and volunteered at Woodcrest. She
was active in the family’s life work of dairy farming.
She is survived by 3 sons, Lorren (Mary) Caffee of
Bluffton, IN; Lonnie (Shirley) Caffee of Decatur, IN; Lynn (Darrin
Vedder) Caffee of Columbia City, IN; a daughter in law, Jane (Jacobs)
Caffee of Ft. Wayne, IN; 1 sister, Norma Lee Luginbill of Willshire, OH;
5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Dale, 1
grandson Colin Caffee and 2 brothers in infancy.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, IN.
Visitation will be held at the church two hours prior to the service
from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Pastor James Voorman will be officiating and
burial will be held at the Decatur Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, St.
Mark’s United Methodist Church, or Family Life Care.
