KOCH

Lois C. Koch, 88, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 1:43 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford, where she’d been a patient since January of this year.  She was born March 16, 1919, in Chattanooga, Ohio, to Rudolph and Nellie (Deyo) Heffner.  On September 3, 1939, she married Morris Koch who preceded her in death on July 8, 1982. 

 

Mrs. Koch began her teaching career at Cheryl Ann School, Celina, working there for many years.  SHE THEN STARTED THE FIRST CLASS FOR SPECIAL STUDENTS in Mercer County Schools at Parkway Local School.  She retired from Mercer County Schools as a Work-Study Coordinator.  She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Rockford, Ohio; a member of the Women’s Guild, a member of Retired Teachers, and served on various Committees and groups at Otterbein, Cridersville, where she had resided for five years before returning to Rockford to Maplewood of Shane’s Village.

 

Surviving are 2 sons and 2 foster daughters:  David  (Gloria) Koch of Cridersville, Ohio and Daniel Koch of Portland, Oregon; Joan (Tom) Ainsworth of Ohio City, Ohio and June Secrist of Wadsworth, Ohio.  Also surviving are a brother, Robert (Pat) Heffner of Cridersville, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Katherine (Robert) Sewell of Lima, Ohio, and Keith Koch of Cridersville, Ohio; and 3 great grandchildren.
 

Deceased are 2 brothers,  Luther and Cleo Heffner and 1 sister, Ruth Heffner.

 

Services will be held on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, outside of Rockford, with Pastor Catherine Costello officiating.   Burial will follow in St. Paul’s  Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, Ohio and at the church 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.  Memorials may be directed to the church.
