BALTZELL
On November 30, 2007 a loving, caring, devoted husband, father,
grandfather and uncle has passed from this life to be with the Lord
after a long battle with a bone marrow disease, surrounded by his
family at 120 Greenlawn Ave, Findlay, OH 45840.
Wayne Eugene Baltzell was born July 14, 1935 in Elyria, Ohio to Floyd A
and Mable (Wurster) Baltzell, the third of five sons. Wayne graduated
from Mendon Union High School in Mercer County and from International
Business School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Wayne married Ruth Kay (R.K.)
Metzger on Aug 4, 1962 at the College First Church of God in Findlay.
He is survived by daughter Gayle Lynn Baltzell (Darin Boyles) Findlay
and son Mark Eugene Baltzell (Amy) of Olympia, Washington, and 3
grandchildren Aiden Baltzell, Asher and Kaia Boyles. He was preceded in death
by his parents Floyd and Mable (Wurster) Baltzell, a brother Fred, and a
sister-in-law, Audrey. He is survived
along with his children and grandchildren by three brothers, Ned of
Mendon, Ohio and Jim (Shirley) and Gary (Jean) of Rockford, Ohio, and a
sister-in-law, Martha Baltzell of Rockford; 16 nieces and nephews,
28 great nieces and nephews and 15 great-great nieces and nephews and
their spouses.
He was employed by Marathon Oil Company for 43 years holding various
positions in Grand Rapids and Lansing Michigan, as well as in Findlay.
Since retiring from Marathon, Wayne has been affiliated with the
University of Findlay Hospitality Management Program where he served as
Program Assistant/Kitchen Manager. He found great joy while working
with the students in this program and it provided a great outlet for his
culinary skills and talents.
He was a 32-year member of Trinity Episcopal Church where he was in the
choir and served on the Vestry, Outreach and Social Committees.
A “Celebration of Life Service” will be held at
Trinity Episcopal Church, on Monday December 3, 2007 at 10:30 am. The
Reverend Christine Schutz will be officiating. There will be no viewing
or visitation. His cremains will be interred at Trinity Episcopal Church
in the columbarium. The family will receive guests in the Parish hall at
the church following the memorial service where a luncheon will be
served.
A heartfelt and sincere thanks
to Dr. Raj Gunda and her staff for their loving care and concern for
Wayne’s well being, as well as the 5th floor nurses and staff
at the Blanchard Valley Hospital Oncology floor and infusion lab.
Wayne’s life was extended so many times by the care given to him by
these skilled and dedicated professionals.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made in Wayne’s name to Trinity Episcopal Church or
the University of Findlay, where the Wayne E Baltzell Hospitality
Scholarship is being established. |
