She was born March 13, 1920, in Van Wert, the daughter of Bertha (Parker) and Lewis Merkle.
In December of 1942 she married Ralph H. Nave, and he died in 1993.
Surviving are a son, Scott (Jody) Nave, of Sandusky; and two daughters, Kathy Nave, of Maumee, and Pamela (Richard) Walen of Toledo; two siblings, Margaret (Lloyd) Baker, St. Marys, and David (Barb) Merkle, Ohio City; and a sister-in-law, Jennie Merkle, Montezuma.
Deceased are two sisters, Marie Lessner and Martha Pudsey; a brother, Lewis Merkle; and two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Baker and Ralph Pudsey.
She graduated from
the former Rockford High School and was a secretary at the
school. She also was an aide at Smith Nursing Home and a
Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She served as a clerk for the
village of Rockford and as an officer and Sunday school
teacher for First Presbyterian Church, Rockford. She was a
member of the Rockford Garden Club and volunteered at Shane
Hill Nursing Home, Rockford.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Miller - Long & Folk
Funeral Home in St. Marys, with the Reverend Richard Hays
officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in
St. Marys.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral
home.
