JOHNSON
Robert D. Johnson, 86, of Van Wert, died at 4:50 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

He was born July 18, 1921, in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Rush Harrison and Edna Angus (Neiford) Johnson.

On November 20, 1948, he married Eleanor (Price) Johnson, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include a son, Roger (Cathy) Johnson of Van Wert; one daughter, Beverly J. Valentine of Convoy; a brother, Carl D. (Ethel) Johnson of Van Wert; one sister-in-law, Pat Johnson of Claremont, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Allen Lewis of Warren, Ind.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Richard, Gerald and Glenn Johnson; and two sisters, Shirley Jean Johnson and Velma Lewis, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 22, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, with Pastors Steven G. Waterman and David Ray officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178.

Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, October 21, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Jennings Road Church of Christ.

 

MOBLEY
Gwendolyn Alice Mobley, 82, of Van Wert, died at 1:54 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born November 16, 1924, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Elwyn Edward and Ethel Leota (DeCamp) Long. She married Floyd Mobley, who died August  31, 2002.

Survivors include a son, Terry Lee Mobley of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Janet Keel of Blue Jay, Calif.; a brother, Robert D. (Jean) Long of Middle Point; five sisters, Josephine Terrell of Tucson,  Ariz., Bonnie Ashbaugh, LaDonna (Carl) Wollenhaupt and Helen (William) Ashbaugh, all of Van Wert, and Rose (Harold) Wollenhaupt of Elida; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and a companion, Roy Bell of Van Wert.

Three sons, Jerry, Darwin and Larry Mobley; and a granddaughter, Allison Mobley, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Thomas L. Cover officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, at the funeral home.
