FAHNCKE
Paul A. Fahncke, 98, formerly of
rural Celina, died at 4:45 P.M., on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the
Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
He was born August 7, 1909 in Liberty Township, Mercer County to John
and Louise (Gertz) Fahncke. He married Della Ruth Rutledge on
October 12, 1940 and she died on January 25, 1957. He later married
Margaret M.
Smith on April 12, 1958, and she died
Aug. 23, 1995.
Surviving are three sons, John (Jerine) of Willshire, Joe (Karen) of
Rockford and Charles (Debra) of Sylvania, Ohio; and one
daughter: Sara and James Patton of Belle Center, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
Deceased are four
brothers and three sisters:
Henry, Otto, Hugo and Carl Fahncke and
Anna Bollenbacher, Emma Brehm and Martha
Bollenbacher.
He was a Farmer in Liberty Township and had
worked at General Electric in Decatur, IN.
He was a longstanding
member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Liberty Township,
where he served various leadership roles and fellowship activities, such
as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Elder and Trustee. He served as
District Supervisor of the Mercer County Soil & Water Conversation
District and served on the board of the Mercer County Society for
Crippled Children and Adults.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, October 5, 2007 at
St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Liberty Township, the
Pastor Randall Swanson officiating. Burial will follow at
Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. on Friday , September 21, 2007 at W.H. dick and
Sons - Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina and one hour prior to services
on Saturday at the church.
