The boys and girls track teams faced the bitter weather at their track meet last Tuesday, April 2nd at Crestview. We came home with a double victory!!! Both teams did an outstanding job!!

Placing for the ladies was:

3^rd Place in the 4x800 Relay Claire Burtch, Kelsey Bates, Olivia Houts & Tara Luth

1^st Place in the 4x200 Relay Amanda On, Brittany Hesse, Ashley Stose & Ashley Trafzer

1^st Place in the 4x100 Relay On, Stose, Trafzer & Marian Bevington

2^nd in the 4x400 Relay Hesse, Eleesha Long, Luth & Alexis Bates

Shanes Crossing 5K Run Donates to Parkway Track Team

Shanes Crossing 5K Run, sponsored by Mercer Health, is a series of races that take place in many communities in Mercer County during the summer months. Locally, the 3.1 mile run starts and finishes in Shanes Park, Rockford, Ohio, with participants being awarded prizes for the first, second, and third place finishers. Donations from businesses assist in recognizing remaining members.

Interest in health awareness and support of the run has increased; allowing more funds to become available to benefit good causes in the town where the event takes place. Last year was the 3^rd Anniversary for the Shanes Crossing 5K Run. In Rockford, a portion of the proceeds from the run went toward maintenance and improvements of Shanes Park, an important gathering place for the community; the recipient of the remaining proceeds is determined from year to year.

Shanes Crossing 5K Run committee, Amy Lyons and Mike Bruns, chose to make a donation of $1500 to go toward purchasing equipment for the Parkway track team. This donation is from the remaining proceeds of last year’s 5K race.

With the completion of the new track, Parkway Local Schools will host a meet for the first time in nine years.  They look forward to a successful season and are very excited about showing their hospitality to fans, participants, and other interested parties who come to support the school.
